And the winner of Future Textiles is…. PowerTex!!
Future Textiles is a competition designed by Teko, where a person or a group can participate by developing a concept for tomorrows textile.
We entered this competition with a group of 14 design and architectural students from Architecture & Design – AAU. We brainstormed on a lot of ideas for the next future textile could look like or be, and throughout 3-4 evenings of work plus some more individual work, we finalized and handed in 6 different concepts, and I was one of the four people that finalized the PowerTex concept. Throughout these “workshops” that we held, a film team from denmark.dk came to follow us for a day.
With some hard work, lot of discussions and a little luck we managed to get a project in the the final, and that project was PowerTex. There was then made a presentation video for all of the finalists, and PowerTex looked like this:
On the 13th of May 2011 we arrived at Teko in Herning for the prize ceremony, and we found that it wasn’t just us that thought PowerTex was a good idea, so did the majority of the jury…
Now this was a good moment, and was nice to win the competitions, though we got a big cardboard check saying we won 50.000 Dkk but we had a gentleman agreement that what ever project won, we would share the money equally. So though we didn’t get rich, we sure got a confident boost.
